Victoria is definitely a very sweet and caring cat. She cares a lot for all the Jellicles. The best Victoria I have yet seen is Phyllida Crowley-Smith, the Victoria from the video. She was so totally amazing and expressive, and played the role beatifully. She is an extremely talented dancer and she really knows what she is doing. I have rarely seen anyone put such emotion into a performance and into a character. You can tell she really loves dance and she's so spectacular at it. I agree with many of you who have said Victoria and Mistoffelees are mates. Here's my take on that. Vic and Misto are probably best friends who have known each other for quite some time. Then suddenly, when she's performing the Solo dance in the Invitation, Misto is just sitting there watching her, and he looks so blown away by how lovely she is. I think he's amazed, and didn't quite think of her as anything more than a friend until hat moment. Then he realizes he likes her a lot and when her dance is over, he just can't resist running up and dancing the rest of the Invitation with her. If you watch in the video, he smiles at her, kind of like they're really good friends, plus it's kind of like a romantic smile. After that I think he's kind of afraid to let her know he really likes her, and at the beginning of the mating dance is too afraid to ask to dance with her, and Plato does instead. Misto doesn't look to happy about this. I think in the mating dance, she actually does fall for Plato temporarily, but later (like in the Moments of Happiness) realizes he isn't right for her, and she really loves Mistoffelees. But it takes them awhile to actually get together, and they finally do in the Journey to the Heavyside Layer. She represents purity and probably also strength of character. Named after Queen Victoria of England, she probably has some things in common with her, such as her greatness and power. I don't feel that Victoria is shy, although she might be. It seems that she's comfortable with all of the Jellicles, but I do think she is somewhat quiet. Jemima, Etcetera, Electra, and Mistoffelees are her closest friends, and she's mostly with Mistoffelees, her best friend. She seems to really enjoy the Jellicle Ball, as all the cats do (who wouldn't!). I don't think she's a kitten, she seems more mature, like a young adult. And she doesn't seem to be prejudiced in her opinions. She doesn't care what rizabella has done wrong in the past, she only sees the pain that she is going through, and this touches her deeply. I don't think she is affected by the opinions the other cats have. She only sees how lonely Griz is and wants to accept her. If Macavity came to the Junkyard, and sincerely appeared to be a sad, lonely, and miserable cat, I think Victoria would pity him also and be one of the first to accept him, forgetting all the terrible things he has done. Also, whoever mentioned that the fact that she isn't a pure white cat probably suggests that she isn't perfect, I think you hit on something there. I'd never actually thought about that before, but it really seems to fit. No one's perfect and I think that proabably is the reason they chose to give her a costume that wasn't pure white. I'd always wondered about that, now it seems to make sense. - Tonya
