I can only speak of CATS in superlatives. I saw the play 12 years ago, but all of the recollections by the other great fans on this site can be reaffirmed by me. For example, I vaguely remember Rum Tum Tugger (Douglas Graham in this particular production) dancing with a woman in the audience, and he continued to be a major force throughout the play...from singing "Old Deuteronomy" to playing a member of Growltiger's crew to introducing and singing "Mr. Mistoffelees". It's no secret that he and Mistoffelees (Mark Esposito) got the loudest applause at the end. We were all applauding, cheering, whistling like we had just seen Mark McGwire's 500th home run. After all the cats left the stage, Mistoffelees was still there, dancing like this was his last performance. Tugger kept beckoning for him to go backstage! (I'm surprised he didn't have to yank him off!) At the intermission, Old Deuteronomy (Calvin E. Remsberg) hung out onstage, and you could go up to him and get autographs, ask questions, and so on. He signed my program and my copy of the book of the musical. Later (four years later, actually) I found out he was the Beadle in the televised version of "Sweeney Todd". by Matt
