I saw 'Cats' in 1995 in Sydney at Her Majesty's Theatre. Luckily for me, my uncle, Peter Carroll, was one of the performers and played the roles of Bustopher Jones, Gus the theatre cat and Growltiger. I was absolutely blown away by the show and we got to go backstage after where we saw some costumes and met Old Deuteronomy (Keith Stubley) and saw the Rum Tum Tugger ( Eric Clausell)! Ever since then it has been my all time favourite musical. No one seems to mention the 95 Australian/Asian Tour of Cats much but it had a huge impact on me. The choreography had been re-written from the old version (like the video) and was faster and slicker. The costumes were beautiful. It was a turning point in my life and now I want to go into musical theatre as a career. The best characters in the production I saw were Mungojerri and Rumpelteazer (Troy Woodcroft and Deanne Burns) and Bombalurina (Charmaine Clements). And now I'm seeing Cats again in a few weeks in 2000! by Jessica
