I am from New York and I have always been interested in seeing CATS on Broadway. Even when I was little, I would see the commercials on TV and just be amazed!! Anyway, I went to see CATS at the Winter Garden Theatre on April 8, 2000. Let me tell you it was one of the most anticipated days of my life! I went with my mom, dad, sister, grandma, and aunt. We were going to be going to the 2:00 show. We got to the city around 12:15 so we walked around the outside near the theatre for a while.I even picked up a few souvenirs at the Broadway shop next to the theatre! Well, when they started letting people into the theatre at about 1:30 or so, we were having coffee at the Starbucks next to the Winter Garden. When I saw the people going in I couldn't wait to go in! I practically dragged my family out of the coffee shop and into the line waiting to go into the theatre! People must have thought I was weird but I really didn't care! We finally got in! Whew!! When the show started,I couldn't believe my eyes and ears! It was sooo amazing. The lights went out and the overture began, which was really cool! The lighting effects are very well done. I loved every aspect of music and choreograpy, it was fabulous! I loved the entire first act, especially The Pekes and The Pollicles!! That was really funny and cute. Seeing all the cats come out of the little crevices on the stage is a really cool part of the show. Which made it even better,I had 4th row seat(from the stage) and I was the seat right next to the ramp. Mistoffelees came by and patted me on the head! It is sooo cool how the cats interact with the audience. Act 1 : breathtaking!! But that is only the beginning.... During intermission , I went up on stage, looked around, and got an autographed poster. Thanks dad! They were pretty expensive but now it makes my bedroom wall shine!! I even encountered some cats up there when I went up. Well, anyway Act 2: amazing! Another act which was so totally well done and really great. During this act we still had the cats walking all around us. I love that!! I love Skimbleshanks when they put the train together!! :) Mistoffelees is a great song! To make a long story short, I was totally happy with everything I had seen so far. :) :) :) When it ended I was so happy that I had finally gotten my long awaited chance to see this great musical! A total dream come true. I have seen 6 Broadway plays over the years but this surpassed them all! I am so happy that I went!! If you have a chance to go don't pass it up!! Oh yeah, the video is awesome too! If you have an extra $15 I recommend getting it. I guess always being a fan of musicals, just like my family, has been a great chance for cool experiences in my life. by Jen
