I saw CATS in Indianapolis, Indiana, on May 14, 2002. The good news is most members of the cast were pretty good. Shylo Smith is an excellent Victoria; she's very cute and catlike. William Hartery stole the show as Bustopher/Asparagus/Growltiger. Wendi Bergamini (Jellylorum/Griddlebone) had a lovely voice. Most cast members were capable, but not excellent. Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer were cute, Skimbleshanks was perky, Demeter and Bombalurina were sultry, Mistoffelees(McCree O'Kelly) could dance, and Grizabella (Gretchen Goldworthy) could sing. The bad news? Well . . . I'm a fangirl, I have high expectations for Munkustrap and The Tugger. And I was dissapointed. Grant Turner (Munkus) just rubbed me the wrong way... no pun intended. For some reason, there was no "Pekes and Pollicles" (??!), but with this Munkustrap, maybe it's for the best. Stan Stanly (Tugger) was just plain irritating, and he didn't dance that well either. Katie Ann Wanner sang very childishly as Sillabub. Old Dueteronomy was played by a swing who just didn't have the right look or feel for it. Elektra, Etcetera, Coricopat and Tantomile are not included in this tour. Despite these criticisms, it's a good show. If I get the chance I'll see it again. - Jeminakitten
