Pouncival is my favorite character from the entire musical. He is one 
of the few male kittens in the tribe, and gets mixed up often because 
of the popular striped costume. From many productions, it is said 
that his best friend is Tumblebrutus, but the similar coat markings 
could maybe say that they're brothers. He is somehow "related" to 
Plato, Admetus, and Alonzo.

I have heard that he and Bombalurina are mates, but my point of view 
is quite different. He fancies her, and tries to get her attention, 
but they couldn't possibly be mates because of the big age 
difference. From the video, during the mating dance, if you look 
closely in the background you can see Bombalurina moving towards him, 
but Pouncival makes the cutest sad face as if he were saying no to 
her. You can also see Jemima heading for him, and he is heading for 
her, also, but Bombalurina pulls him away. That is somewhat confusing 
to me. Anyway...

He would go best with Jemima or Etcetera, because of my 'coat 
matchings' they are not related.

As you can see very clearly, The Rum Tum Tugger is his idol! He tries 
to imitate him at the very beginning of Tugger's song.
