Demeter's character is kind of dark and mysterious.  She always 
senses when Macavity's around and is always in her own little world, 
like in the Rum Tum Tugger song.  Not only that, but she seems to 
know all the goings on of the backstreets of the city, for she is 
very much aware of the happenings of Macavity and Grizabella's past, 
whom she sings about.  To me, she is one of those cats who's a bit on 
the wild side and doesn't mind to stray to the wrong side of the 
tracks.  She's attracted to badness, which i think is why she was 
Macavity's mate at one time.  I still think she loves him when she 
sings the song but is a bit afraid of him.  At the end, though, she 
realizes his intentions are not good and is saved by Munkustrap when 
he fights him off.  She then cuddles with him and maybe a new flame 
for him has sparked and she is ready to turn her life around for the 
better.  Her best friend is Bomby whom she is always with but she is 
less flirtatious than Bomby.  She is also one of the rare woman cats 
that doesn't like the Tugger.  This shows a kind of maturity in her 
different from Bomby's.
