i've already read a lot of terrible stories about demeters life, 
well, my one isn't so terrible, but tragic.....;o) (not really, just 
overacting).

when demeter was younger she had a relationship with mungojerrie (it 
was before jerrie met teazer, and it's the reason why demter mentions 
him in the "macavity" song) but fell in love with macavity, who was a 
brother of munkustrap. she left jerrie and danced with mac at the 
jellicle ball (remember victoria and plato? this way...) however, mac 
left his family together with other cats to found the unjellicles, 
and he took demeter with him. but she wasn't happy to leave her 
family and after some time she reunited with them by leaving her true 
love mac behind. but without him she wasn't really happy either, so 
after the well-known jellicle ball with grizabella she left her 
family for a second time to be with macavity.

i think she is munkustraps mate during the ball but they don't love 
each other, it's just everybody expected them to be a couple.

demeter is a very careful character and always on alarm. she could be 
brave by sometime but most of the time she wants to be protected. her 
very best friend is bombalurina and she loves her like only best 
friends could do. leaving her behind hurts her very much, but she 
knows that bomby will love her wherever she is.
